35 good things : week two

One of my favorite things about this project is breaking the rules. Or knowing that there are no rules. I've been tweaking the list a little bit because it's really just about having some fun and doing some good while I'm at it. Last week, I decided to bring some flowers to my friend Francesca. She's been feeling under the weather and just celebrated a birthday, so it seemed like perfect timing. Instead of having a random bouquet sent to her houes, though, I hand picked a sweet selection I knew she'd like and arranged them in a vase, then wrapped up a few more birthday treats. I didn't know if she'd even come to the door, but I thought I could at least ring the bell and leave the gifts on the doorstep. When she peeked through her window, though, she was beaming. And guess what? She was just about to call me to ask if I'd come over soon!
Here's my tally so far...

Write a letter to someone I admire
Pay 5 strangers compliments
Leave 10 lucky pennies on the pavement
Leave 15 nice blog comments
Send 20 postcards to friends
Leave 25 love notes in the world
Write in my journal for 30 minutes
Give $35 to a charity I was able to donate to Habitat OC at the request of my friend who recently lost her father to cancer.
Bake cookies for a neighbor
Cook Rama's favorite dinner Lasagna!
Make lunch for Rama (put a love note in it)
Spend one hour of uninterrupted Henry time
Ask a stranger how his/her day is going
Offer a Mac tutoring session to Mom & Dad
Help a new mom
Give away a set of custom notecards
Donate things I don't need to Good Will
Give spare change to the next person who asks for it (if no one does, put it in our travel piggy bank)
Buy coffee for the person behind me in line
Write a thank you note to a former teacher
Give Rama a back rub (don't time it)
Feed someone who could really use a meal
Forgive someone Working on it...
Apologize to someone
Send a random friend flowers
Do every good thing that presents itself that day
Tip someone generously
Go one day without complaining
Go one day without gossiping
Call a family member just to say Hi
Let Rama sleep in
Make a mixed CD and give it away
Let the person behind me cut in front of me at checkout
Take my mom out to lunch
Treat myself to a massage
A couple other ideas that have sprung up: Feed a meter before you leave it so the next person has free parking and tidy up any merchandise display area that's in disarray. Have you done any good things? It's addicting.
